Managing Global Uncertainty: Exploring New Opportunities

A member of Strategic Swiss Partners' Global Advisory Board, Dr. Yeoh is also Chairman of the WCES and CEO of the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute.

HONG KONG, November 15, 2017

Strategic Swiss Partners (SSP) was proud to have its Global Advisory Board member Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Michael Yeoh present at the 9th World Chinese Economic Summit (WCES) held from November 13-14, 2017 in Hong Kong.

The summit, a premier international event, was themed, "Managing Global Uncertainty: Exploring New Opportunities".

Dr. Yeoh is Chairman of the WCES and Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI), one of the world's top think tanks, and the creators of the summit.

The principal objective of the WCES is to enhance connectivity and business links between China and Southeast Asia, as well as China and Europe in line with the Chinese leadership's Belt and Road initiatives.

Initially called the World Chinese Economic Forum, the summit also promotes global and regional dialogue on the emergence and role of the Chinese diaspora and promotes entrepreneurship and innovation through business networking and the sharing of knowledge and best practises.

It is an internationally recognised high-level platform for business, trade facilitation and investment to build new partnerships.

During the 6th WCES in Chongqing, China, the Vice President of China, H.E. Li Yuan Chao delivered the keynote address, highlighting the crucial role of the Chinese diaspora as a bridge connecting countries.

Li noted that 60% of investments into China came from the global Chinese diaspora and hoped that overseas Chinese entrepreneurs would realise and seize the opportunity to invest and trade with China and other countries, and contribute to world economic recovery.

For over 2,000 years, the Silk Road connected China to Southeast Asia and the West. China's new Belt and Road initiatives will reignite these historic links.

The WCES is well placed to be a premier event to discuss the actualisation and business potential of the Belt and Road initiative.

In the past, the summit has been held in Malaysia, China, Australia and the United Kingdom.
